Deputy Michael Ring asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications the length of time an application has been with his Department (details supplied); when it is going to be finalised in view of the current energy crisis in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe application referred to in the question was received 28 March 2022 and is under consideration by my Department. As is the case for any such application, it is assessed against a number of criteria, including the technical competence of the applicant and the financial resources available to it in order to undertake the work programme and any other commitments pursuant to the relevant petroleum authorisation. It is important to note that this assessment process is informed only by financial and technical considerations and not by energy security or broader energy policy matters.
My Department does not publish information on individual applications for authorisations whilst they are under consideration.
