Vol. 6 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LONGFORD MOTOR OWNER'S CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has received a claim from Wm. Adair, 20 St. Mel's Road, Longford, for a four-ton lorry which was commandeered by the Military Authorities on the 1st July, 1922, and which is now lying in Longford Barracks in a wrecked and useless condition; and also if he is aware that after this lorry was taken from him, Adair joined the Mechanical Transport Section of the Army in July, 1922, and served up to May 19th, 1923, when he was placed under arrest by the Military, and after some time handed over to the Civil authorities, and charged with furnishing a false receipt to the Claims Department, of which charge he was acquitted at Longford Quarter Sessions, and to ask whether as this man is the father of nine young children, and has no means to resume his business, this claim will be attended to forthwith.

Mr. Adair's claim is still under investigation; it is hoped that a decision will shortly be given on it.
