Vol. 6 No. 28

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BICYCLES COMMANDEERED (Co. GALWAY.)

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that bicycles were seized by the Military from the following persons living in or near Ballinasloe, in the months of September and October, 1922, namely:—Michael Callary, Frank Hynes, Peter Dooley, Patrick Kelly Timothy Churchill, Peter Mulry, James Naughton, Thomas Griffin, Patrick Flynn, that all these are working men who used their bicycles to get to and from their work; whether repeated applications have been made for the return of these bicycles or for compensation for same, and if he will take immediate steps to have these claims finally settled.

Claims have been received from Messrs. Dooley and Churchill. They are under investigation and it is hoped to effect their settlement at an early date.

I regret that there is no trace at Headquarters of the receipt of claims from the other persons and shall therefore be glad if they will furnish particulars to the Chief Claims Officer, Portobello Barracks.
