Vol. 6 No. 37

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - U.N.F. INSURANCE COLLECTING SOCIETY.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the United National Friendly Insurance Collecting Society went bankrupt some time ago, and that many policy holders have not received payments due to them, and whether steps will be taken to protect the interests of the Irish policy holders concerned.

The United National Friendly Insurance Collecting Society is an English body, and no action can be taken by any authority here to safeguard the interests of policy holders of An Saorstát, but such interests will, of course, be looked after on the same footing as other interests by the Chief Registrar of Friendly Societies in England. An award for the winding up of the affairs of this Society was made in September last under the English Industrial Assurance Act, 1923. Saorstát policy holders should accordingly communicate direct with the Industrial Assurance Commissioner at 17 North Audley Street, W.1., as the proceedings for winding-up have not, as far as I am aware, been yet completed.
