Vol. 21 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LAND PURCHASE IN COUNTY LONGFORD.

asked the Minister for Fisheries what is being done to provide housing for those among whom the lands of Currygrane, County Longford, are being divided; and what special reason there was for giving all the housing on the estate, namely 500 ft. x 20 ft. x 20 ft. of good stone-wall, slated houses, along with hay sheds and cattle sheds, to a man who only came to the estate in the emergency of the Anglo-Irish war.

The persons amongst whom the lands of Currygrane, County Longford, on the Mackay Wilson estate, were divided already have housing accommodation either on their parent holdings, in cottages on the estate, or cottages built under the Labourers Acts. Parcels of land were allotted to the employees on the estate who were losing their employment by reason of the sale of the lands, amongst whom was the steward, who was allotted the house he lived in together with other out-offices. The remainder of these buildings were given to another allottee named Duffy.
