Vol. 21 No. 9

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - BLIND PENSION CLAIM (LEIX).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he has received a claim for a blind pension from Andrew Dowling, Clonmeen, Errill, Ballybrophy, Leix, and if he will now authorise payment of the amount recommended by the local Pensions Committee or state the reason why he cannot do so.

An appeal was received in this case on the 29th June, 1927, in connection with an application for an increase in the rate of old age pension of 4/- a week held by the claimant. It appeared that he is in possession of a farm of 14¾ acres, Poor Law valuation £18, and about seven acres are under tillage. The usual stock is kept. Allowance was made for necessary labour, but it was not considered that the pensioner's means, as calculated for old age pension purposes, would justify any increase in his pension.
