Vol. 21 No. 9

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - OLD AGE PENSION CLAIM (MOUNTRATH).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he has received an application for an old age pension from Mary O'Brien, Ballycleary, Castletown, Mountrath, Leix, and if he is now in a position to sanction payment of the amount recommended by the local Pensions Committee or state reasons why he is unable to do so.

This claim came in on appeal on 18th June, 1926. The claimant was visited by an Inspector from the Department, from whose report it appeared that she has attained the statutory age. It was not clear, however, that her means were fully disclosed. In the circumstances it was not considered that her means were within the statutory limit for the receipt of a pension, and the claim was disallowed on this ground on 31st August, 1926. No further claim has since been received for adjudication on appeal.
