Vol. 21 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - APPLICATION FOR WOUND PENSION.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has received an application from Mr. Christopher Foley, Bray, for a wound pension; whether he is aware that as a result of the injuries received in September, 1922, while serving in the National Army this man is permanently disabled and unable to follow any employment.

I have received no application from Mr. Christopher Foley, Bray, for a wound pension. I have, however, received an application from Mr. Charles Foley, 10 Purcell's Terrace, Bray, who is apparently the person referred to by the Deputy. This application was considered under the Army Pensions Act, 1923, and Mr. Foley, whose disability was assessed at 20 per cent., was awarded a gratuity of £60 in final settlement of his claim. I am not aware that Mr. Foley is permanently disabled.

In view of the serious condition of this man's wounds, is the Minister prepared to have him re-examined with a view to giving him a pension?

I will see about it.
