Vol. 21 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF KILTEEVAN LANDS.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will state why the Irish Land Commission has decided to take no steps to acquire the lands of Kilteevan, etc., the property of Miss Mapother, in the County of Roscommon, for the relief of congestion in the district, and if he is aware that on this property there are 12 tenancies, 48 of which are under £10 valuation, 23 of these being under £6 valuation, and 20 under £3.

The Land Commission are aware that the majority of the holdings referred to are under £10 Poor Law valuation, and they are considering the question of the acquisition of the untenanted lands on the estate.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that this estate was already inspected, and that his Department decided to take no steps to acquire the property? That is the information I received.

Obviously, the Deputy got the wrong information.

I am very glad to hear it.
