asked the Minister for Finance if he will state for all Ireland and for County Clare, respectively, (a) the number and total amount of claims for repayment of subscriptions to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan received up to March 31st, 1929; (b) the number and total amount of claims paid; (c) the number and total amount of claims rejected, owing to insufficiency of evidence or other causes; (d) the number and total amount of claims awaiting final decision.

Authority has been given to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs for the issue of Savings Certificates to 83,901 subscribers to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan, 1919-20. These certificates represent subscriptions and interest amounting in the aggregate to £383,489 8s. 0d. As regards the third part of the question, no separate record is kept of rejected claims, but the number which have been rejected is comparatively small. The compilation of the figures showing the number and total amount of claims paid in Co. Clare, and also of those asked for in the first and fourth parts of the Deputy's question, would entail so much time and labour that the Minister does not feel there is sufficient justification for undertaking it.
