Vol. 31 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Great Southern Railways Company.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what are the intentions of the Great Southern Railways Company regarding the proposed expenditure of £100,000 as part of the terms of settlement by arbitration of the recent dispute with their shopmen, with reference to conditions of employment, and also, whether the company now propose to manufacture their rolling stock and other requirements at their own workshops.

I have no definite information at present as to the intentions of the company.

Mr. Doyle

Will the Minister make an inquiry from the railway company as to what their intentions are in this matter?

Inquiries have been made but I understand that the whole matter is still under consideration by the Board, and it is not possible at the moment to give details.
