Vol. 33 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Newcastle-West Poor Law Official's Pension.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state why sanction was not given by his Department to the claim of Mr. A. J. Byrnes, late clerk, Newcastle-West Union and Rural District Council; and whether he will reconsider the matter with a view to awarding a pension to this officer.

The superannuation payable to Mr. Byrnes was definitely determined over three years ago. There is nothing to reconsider.

Is the Minister aware that this gentleman offered his services for re-employment under the section of the Local Government Act of 1925 relating to the re-employment of pensioners in the Department?

The matter was very carefully and fully considered at the time, and it is finally closed.
