Vol. 39 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Audit of Meath Board of Health.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state if it is a fact that no audit of the accounts of the Meath Board of Health has been held for the past five years; and, if so, will he state the reason for the delay.

It is not a fact that no audit of these accounts has been held for the past five years. The audit in respect of the periods 1st April, 1925, to 31st March, 1929, was opened by the auditor in September, 1929. It had to be adjourned owing to the illness of an official of the board whose presence at the audit was essential. The auditor resumed in May, 1930, and continued his audit to November, 1930. The public assistance portion of the accounts has been completed for the period to 31st March, 1930, except for replies to queries raised by the auditor. It is expected that the auditor will be in a position shortly to close the audit of the board's accounts for all periods up to 31st March, 1930.
