Vol. 55 No. 1

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Refund of Insurance Premiums.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will have included in the Insurance Bill, 1934, before the text of the Bill is circulated to Deputies, provisions providing that in the case of policies taken out for small sums with Irish and other insurance companies where the policy-holders were induced through false, fraudulent or misleading information to take out policies on distant relatives or connections and such policies have been determined by the companies concerned without payment of compensation or surrender-value, the companies shall be liable for refund of the premiums paid.

I do not think that it would be desirable for me at this stage to answer questions as to what will or will not be contained in the Bill as circulated. I suggest that the Deputy should await the text of the Bill and if he is not satisfied with it he will no doubt consider what amendments might advantageously be moved by him on the Committee Stage.
