asked the Minister for Lands whether any proceedings have been taken to acquire for distribution the Alexander Estate at Ballinabranna, County Carlow; whether he is aware that a number of workmen residing in dilapidated houses on the estate have applied for labourers' cottages on selected sites on the estate, and whether he will avail of the opportunity presented by the division of these lands to allocate holdings to these men.

The Land Commission have arranged for an inspection of the lands on the Alexander Estate to ascertain their suitability for acquisition and division. The question of providing holdings or of arranging suitable accommodation thereon for residents on the estate will be considered in the event of the estate being acquired.
