Vol. 69 No. 6

Written Answers. - Congestion in Westmeath.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of the congestion in the Cloneyhigue area in the County Westmeath, in which some of the valuations are as low as 15/-; that there has been an agitation for the relief of this situation for the past five years; and, if so, what steps he proposes taking to relieve this situation.

Mr. Boland

The Deputy's question appears to refer to lands in the immediate vicinity of the townland of Clonyhague (Ordnance Sheet 32), County of Westmeath. The Land Commission are having inquiries made regarding an area of 1,235 acres of untenanted lands in the townlands of Johnstown, Bally-hast, Greenan, Cloonfad and Cloonagh, all of which are in the neighbourhood of Clonyhague. They have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of 121 acres of the lands of Dalystown in the vicinity.
