Vol. 87 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wholesale Price of Creamery Butter.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state in relation to Emergency Powers (Wholesale of Creamery Butter) (No. 2) Order, 1940 (Revocation) Order, 1942, the wholesale price of creamery butter, made up in rolls, on the 1st October, 1940; and if he will state for what purpose Emergency Powers (Wholesale of Creamery Butter) (No. 2) Order, 1940 (Revocation) Order, 1942, issued on the 19th June, 1942, has been issued.

There was no fixed wholesale price on the 1st October, 1940, for creamery butter made up in rolls. On the 18th December, 1940, an Order entitled Emergency Powers (Wholesale Sale of Creamery Butter) (No. 2) Order, 1940, was made, prohibiting any person from selling wholesale creamery butter made up in rolls at a price in excess of the price charged by such person on the 1st October, 1940. This Order could not be applied subsequent to the increase in the price of creamery butter which took effect last month, and was, accordingly, revoked by the Order referred to in the question.

Will the Minister say if it is intended to increase the retail price of butter in Dublin?
