asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the quantity of raw wool, and (b) the quantity of woollen yarns imported during each quarter of 1945 and the first quarter of 1946; whether he will state approximately the quantity of (a) Irish raw wool; (b) imported raw wool, and (c) woollen yarns in stock at March 31st, 1946, or at the latest date for which information is available; and further, whether the export of Irish wool is now permitted; and, if so, if he will state the quantities exported during the first four months of 1946.

I have no information as to stocks of raw wool or woollen yarn held by manufacturers and merchants in this country. The export of raw wool continues to be subject to control but licences are granted only for the export of the lower qualities of wool. During the first three months of this year exports of wool amounted to 1,409,000 lbs. Particulars of exports during the month of April, 1946, are not yet available.
