The provision of houses on the lines suggested in the question is part of the Government's general building programme. It will be understood, however, that the shortage of houses affects practically all sections of the community and that, anxious as I am for an improvement in the case of the Gárda Síochána, I cannot expect for them more than a fair share of whatever new building is possible.
