Vol. 103 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannonbridge Gárda Station.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will secure a report on the condition of the Gárda Síochána station at Shannonbridge, Offaly; if he is satisfied that the building is a suitable one, and whether he will arrange to have a new station erected in the village at an early date, particularly in view of the fact that the Office of Public Works owns property, convenient to the existing Gárda station, which could be considered a suitable site for a new station in the village.

Mr. Boland

I am not satisfied that the present premises are suitable for a permanent Gárda Station at Shannonbridge, and I have had provision made in my Department's post-war building programme for the erection of a new station.

Could the Minister say if it is proposed to build the new station on the existing Board of Works site in Shannonbridge?

Mr. Boland

I could not say what site will be chosen. The idea is to have a new station, wherever it can be built.

A new station to look after the Deputy.
