Vol. 105 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foreign Exchange Account.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the value, in terms of sterling, of the foreign currencies now to the credit of the Foreign Exchange Account established under Section 49 of the Finance Act, 1941; and if he will indicate the various sources of the foreign currencies to the credit of the account.

The value in terms of sterling of the foreign currencies to the credit of the Foreign Exchange Account was £2,646,337 on the 28th February, 1947, at the rates of exchange then prevailing. The bulk of the foreign exchange held accrues from sales to the Minister for Finance of United States and Canadian dollars by Irish residents under the Emergency Powers (No. 81) Order, 1941.
