A formal petition has not been received by me but I have seen a copy of a letter bearing on the subject addressed to various Deputies by the Athlone Chamber of Commerce. Up to the present I have received no proposals from the local authority in the matter and consequently I am unable to state whether or not a grant could be made available for the work.
