Vol. 120 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware (a) that the lands of the Lambert estate, Ballyboughal, County Dublin, were recently advertised for letting by public auction; (b) that the auctioneer indicated that such lands would be let to the highest bidder; (c) that a reasonable price in respect of the lands to be let was bid; (d) that notwithstanding this, the letting was withdrawn; and (e) that the inspector indicated that the lands would be let by private treaty instead of by public auction; and, if so, whether he will state the reasons for the action of the inspector and the auctioneer and whether their functions were interfered with at the auction; and, further, if he will now take steps to ensure that these lands will be let by public auction in fairness to all persons who might desire to benefit by their letting.

Mr. Burke

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that a public auction was held for the letting of the Roscall Lambert estate, Ballyboughal, and that it was withdrawn from public auction after a reasonable price had been offered; and, if so, whether he will state why it has been let or is about to be let by private treaty.

With the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, I will take together Questions Nos. 7 and 8. The letting of these lands was withdrawn at the auction as no reasonable offer was made. The auctioneer is now open to receive offers by private treaty.
