Vol. 122 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Courtown Harbour Garda Station.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the quarters occupied by the Gardaí at Courtown Harbour, County Wexford, which are known as the Coast Guard Station, have been condemned for a number of years and if he will now state when it is proposed to build a new Garda station at Courtown Harbour.

I am aware that Courtown Harbour Garda Station is nearing the end of its useful life. It is at present being used for administrative purposes only, and there are no Guards in residence.

The erection of a new station is being considered, but no decision has yet been reached.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the Wexford County Council are anxious to take over these premises in order to provide accommodation for people badly in need of accommodation, that they have been waiting for the Board of Works to give a decision for a long time and will he expedite the matter?

We will give it to them, if we can get an alternative site for a new station.
