Vol. 123 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cobh Telephone Services.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he has received a resolution from Cobh Urban Council asking that a telephone kiosk be erected in the eastern end of the town, and whether, in view of the fact that the kiosk is urgently needed to serve the needs of a very large number of people living in council houses, particularly when medical aid is required, he will arrange to have one provided as soon as possible.

I have received a request from Cobh Urban District Council for the provision of an additional public telephone kiosk in the town. There are already two telephone kiosks at Cobh, one of which was provided this year, and Cobh is now reasonably well served. The use likely to be made of a third kiosk would not be sufficient to warrant its erection and I regret, therefore, that it is not possible to comply with the Deputy's request.
