Vol. 123 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Special Allowances (Military).

Mr. Murphy

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware of the prolonged delay in his Department in dealing with recommendations made by the Minister for Defence in favour of the award of special allowances under the Military Service Pensions Acts and if he will take steps to ensure that such cases submitted to his Department are dealt with more expeditiously in future.

Recommendations made by the Minister for Defence for the grant of special allowances under the Army Pensions Acts are given priority treatment in my Department. Apart from exceptional cases in which the examination by my Department reveals the necessity for further investigations, I am not aware of any prolonged delay in sanctioning awards of special allowances.
