Vol. 123 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply Board Pensioners.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether Electricity Supply Board pensioners, who were transferred employees from Dublin Corporation under the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1927, may expect increases in their pensions soon.

It is proposed to make provision for this purpose in a Bill to amend the Electricity Supply Acts to authorise increases in the pensions of the former Electricity Supply Board employees to whom the Deputy refers. There will be no avoidable delay in the introduction of this legislation.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in reference to his reply to a question on the 27th June, 1950, if the Electricity Supply Board pensioners covered by the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1950, have yet been granted increases of pensions and how it is proposed to deal with the cases of those Electricity Supply Board employees who were transferred from the Dublin Corporation by the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1927.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the increases in the pensions of Electricity Supply Board pensioners authorised by the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1950, were granted in July, 1950. Arrears as from the 15th March, 1950, were also paid in July last.

Proposals for legislation to authorise increases in the pensions payable to Electricity Supply Board pensioners other than those covered by the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1950, are under consideration. There will be no avoidable delay in the introduction of this legislation.
