asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether a housing scheme for Muinebeag, County Carlow, has been submitted to his Department for sanction; and, if so, what decision has been reached on such scheme.

Lay-out and house plans for a 96-house scheme at Muinebeag were submitted by the Carlow County Council for my approval on the 11th July last. Meanwhile, certain comments on the house plans were conveyed to the council and their views were requested, with particular reference to the estimated all-in cost and the rents that would have to be charged in respect of the houses. I understand that the matter was again considered at a meeting of the council on the 4th instant and a stage has now been reached when it is hoped to have the revised plans submitted in final form early in January next.
