Vol. 124 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ground Limestone for Clare.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that the Clare County Committee of Agriculture has guaranteed to purchase 500 tons of ground limestone and if, in view of this guarantee, he will ensure that the material will be made available to farmers in the immediate future.

I understand that the county committee of agriculture decided to write to the company to the effect that if the grinding plant was working in Clare early in spring, the committee could definitely assure them that at least 500 tons would be purchased. This assurance will, I am certain, be appreciated by the company, who will send their plant to Clare as soon as they have fulfilled engagements in other counties from which heavy orders for ground limestone were received. In the meantime, I understand quarrying operations are about to commence, if they have not already begun.
