Vol. 129 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Flooding (County Kildare).

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the Kildare County Council are very anxious to take steps under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, to relieve flooding caused in North Kildare by the River Blackwater; and, if so, whether he will provide a special grant to meet the cost of the engineering survey that would first be necessary.

The grants made available for works under the Local Authorities (Works) Act since its enactment are limited to amounts sufficient to defray the cost of the actual work and such items as engineers' salaries are not admitted as a charge on such grants.
