asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if any application has been made recently for a tariff on imported hydrated lime; and, if so, what action he proposes to take on the application.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imported Hydrated Lime.
For reasons which I am sure the House will appreciate, I cannot undertake to answer questions relating to proposals for the imposition of customs duties on particular commodities.
Will the Minister not indicate whether or not a tariff has been imposed?
That is not the question.
Surely it is implicit in the question as to whether or not a tariff has been imposed? Does the Minister suggest that he will not inform the House when a successful application for a tariff has been ruled on by him?
I am saying that I should not inform the House when an application is under consideration.
The Minister, in his reply, did not say it was under consideration.
That is correct. I did not say it was under consideration.
But you do now?
We will come back again at a future date to this matter.
