Vol. 131 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Balanced Rations.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he will arrange with producers of compound feeding stuffs to put balancing rations on the market which would enable farmers to utilise 50 per cent. and 75 per cent. of their own produced grain and still feed a balanced ration.

Mr. Walsh

Balancer meals suitable for supplementing home-grown feeding stuffs are being manufactured under licence by some firms in this country. I will be prepared to consider favourably applications from other firms for licences to manufacture similar meals. At the same time, it is my view that as long as farmers who have their own grain are able to obtain the necessary additional ingredients for the making of balanced rations to meet their individual requirements, no change in the present arrangements is necessary.
