The information required by the Deputy is as follows:— (a) Number of Corporation Profits Tax assessments made in 1951-52, 1,864; (b) Taxable profits £27,360,019; (c) Net tax payable £2,729,732.
The figures of taxable profits and net tax payable are subject to adjustment in respect of discharges and repayments still to be made. It should also be pointed out that the bulk of the assessments made in 1951-52 relate to accounting periods which ended during the year to 31st March, 1951. 149 of the total of 1,864 are "additional assessments" for accounting periods in respect of which "first assessments" were previously made.
