I am informed by Bord na Móna that the estimated quantity of turf which will be won by the board on its ordinary schemes this year is 500,000 tons. In addition approximately 100,000 tons will be produced on the special emergency schemes, making a total of 600,000 tons. The amount required for the Electricity Supply Board turf-fired generating stations is approximately 300,000 tons, leaving a balance amounting to 300,000 tons which will be offered for sale to the public.
