Vol. 132 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Hospital Wage Claims.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is in a position to announce a decision on the claim for increased wages which was submitted on behalf of wardsmaids and the domestic staff employed in the General Military Hospital at the Curragh Camp.

Arrangements have now been made for payment of the claim for increased wages which was submitted on behalf of wardsmaids and the domestic staff employed in the General Military Hospital at the Curragh Camp.

With retrospective effect?

I could not say about that.

Could the Minister say what date?

I could not say what date. It is arranged that they would be paid from the 11th. The decision was arrived at on the 11th.

I understand that this increase will grant the staffs concerned the same rate of pay as that granted to similar staffs employed in the county hospital. Will it operate from the same date as the partial increase which was granted?

It will date from the settlement whenever that was.
