Vol. 137 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Workers' Claim.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he has received a request from, or on behalf of, the workers engaged at the forestry station at Tallow, County Waterford, to be classified as forestry workers employed in County Waterford and paid the Waterford county council rate of pay; and, if so, what action he proposes to take.

The major part of Tallow forest lies in County Cork and the rate of wages payable is, therefore, the County Cork rate in accordance with general practice.

Representations in this matter have been made to my Department. The correspondent has been informed that it is not proposed to depart from the general practice.
