asked the Minister for Agriculture what steps he proposes to take to increase available supplies of ground limestone in view of the three months' back-log on orders at present existing.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limestone Supplies.
Mr. Walsh
The producers of ground limestone are making every effort to meet the back-log of orders by working their plants to maximum capacity and by giving preference to lime required for tillage lands. There are at present 26 plants working with a maximum potential output of 900,000 tons per annum. Six additional plants are under consideration at present. Delays in deliveries at this season cannot be avoided unless farmers co-operate with the producers by placing orders and taking delivery before the peak period of demand.
