36 per cent. of the candidates taking pass mathematics at the Leaving Certificate Examination in 1954 failed in that subject, 25.5 per cent. of such candidates failed in mathematics in 1953, 22.9 per cent. failed in 1952, 30.1 per cent. failed in 1951 and 16.3 per cent. failed in 1950.
