Vol. 147 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of County Galway Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that the lands known as Blackacre, Strahan estate, Tuam, County Galway, have been, or are about to be, sold, and, if so, if he will request the Land Commission to acquire these lands for distribution among local congests and cottiers, who have used the lands for many years as a cow park.

After full consideration of this case the Land Commission decided not to institute proceedings for these lands.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say if the Tuam Town Commissioners have made representations to the Land Commission for the taking over of this land?

Yes. Correspondence urging the acquisition of the land for allotment as a cow park was received from the Rev. Father Kelly, Administrator, Tuam, from the town commissioners and from your humble servant, but the Land Commission have decided otherwise.
