Income-tax statistics are not compiled in such a manner as to enable all the information for which the Deputy asks to be given in the form in which he requires it. The information which is available is contained in a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report.
Following is the statement:—

NOTE.
Particulars of tax outstanding are compiled as at the 1st June in each year and show the tax outstanding for (i) the year of account ending fourteen months previously and (ii) for all previous years of account. Separate particulars for the years 1930-31 to 1955-56 inclusive are not available but it is considered that the amount outstanding in respect of tax assessed in the years prior to 1930-31 is comparatively small.
