Vol. 194 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fencing of Mayo Farm.

45.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the acreage of land to be fenced under a rearrangement scheme by the Land Commission for Mr. John Barrett, Tristia, Geesala, Ballina, County Mayo, (b) the number of separate portions which will be fenced, (c) the length of fencing in yards which will be required, (d) the estimated cost of the fencing, and (e) the average estimated cost of fencing the adjoining holdings exclusive of the cost of fencing Mr. Barrett's holding.

Negotiations between the Land Commission and individual tenants in connection with projected rearrangement schemes are carried out on a voluntary and confidential basis. The Deputy will appreciate that a successful rearrangement scheme requires the consent and co-operation of all the tenants involved.

I have now been informed that Mr. Barrett has co-operated in this Scheme and has accepted the Land Commission's proposals. Accordingly, I do not feel that I should publish the details of the individual proposals in this case.
