Vol. 194 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Courtown (Wexford) Lands.

46.

asked the Minister for Lands (a) at what date the lands at Courtown, County Wexford, known as "The Banks" and "The Borrows" were offered to Wexford County Council, (b) the date on which his Department received notification from Wexford County Council that they proposed to acquire "The Borrows", and (c) the reason, if any, given for their refusal to acquire "The Banks"; and whether this matter was decided by the elected representatives of the County Council or the County Manager.

The information sought by the Deputy is as follows:—

(a) The offer of the lands in question was made to the Wexford County Council on 9th November, 1957.

(b) The Council's decision to purchase "The Borrows" was conveyed per letter dated 5th December, 1957.

(c) I have no information as to the reasons which motivated the Council's decision, but the letter referred to at (b) indicated that the matter had been considered by the County Council at a recent meeting.

47.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will furnish the names of those whose tenders were accepted for the lands known as "The Banks", Courtown, County Wexford.

It would be contrary to established practice to furnish the names of those whose tenders were accepted.

48.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will give an assurance that the public right-of-way from Courtown to Ardamine, County Wexford, across "The Banks", will be preserved for the general public.

The sale by my Department of lands at "The Banks", Courtown, will not affect any established rights-of-way.
