asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the condition of Ballintogher national school, County Sligo; and what steps are being taken to provide a new school.

I am aware of the need for a new school to replace the existing Ballintogher national school. An inspection of the site offered for a new school will be carried out at an early date by the Commissioners of Public Works. When their report has been received, my Department will communicate with the Reverend Manager.

May I point out to the Minister that there is need for the immediate erection of this school? The present school is in a very bad condition and the children are frightened, due to the fact that rats are scurrying around the school.
