A definitive decision was taken in 1960 to erect a new Garda station at Burtonport on a site which had been acquired in 1951. Tenders for the work were invited in April, 1962, but the response was unsatisfactory. Fresh tenders have now been obtained and it is hoped to place a contract in about a month.
