asked the Minister for Education if he will state, in the form of the table given on page 78 of the Annual Report of his Department (scoileanna ina múintear gach abhar leinn trí Ghaeilge ach amháin an Béarla), the number of schools in each county in which all subjects except English were taught through the medium of Irish for each of the years 1960-61 and 1961-62; and if he will give the total number of pupils in attendance during each of these years at each of the four types of school (infant schools and other schools in the Gaeltacht and infant schools and other schools in the Galltacht) mentioned in the table referred to.
Written Answers. - Teaching through Irish.
The following table gives, in the form requested by the Deputy, the number of national schools in which all subjects except English were taught through the medium of Irish for the year 1960-61. The figures for the year 1961-62 are in course of preparation and will be available shortly.
With regard to the second part of the Deputy's question, the statistics sought are not available in my Department and their preparation would involve an inordinate amount of time and labour.
