NOTE 1—The mileage figures show the position at 31st March, 1962, and are taken from returns furnished by local authorities. The county council mileages include main roads in urban areas (excluding those in the County Boroughs, Dun Laoghaire, Drogheda and Dundalk), which are normally the responsibility of the county council.
NOTE 2—The grant figures show the aggregate of all road grants allocated through the Road Fund to each local authority, in the years in question. They do not include grants made available by Departments other than the Department of Local Government and spent on Roads.
NOTE 3—The Cork and Limerick Corporations grant figures for 1962-63 include provisional figures in respect of Main Road Upkeep Grant Allocations.
NOTE 4—Grants for urban roads were introduced in 1960-61. The 1962-63 figures include grants allocated to urban authorities in compensation for the Estate Duties Grant which was terminated from 1st April, 1962. In addition the Drogheda and Dundalk figures include upkeep and improvement grants for the main roads in these areas.
Is it a fact that the road grant for County Donegal increased from £229,000 to £450,000?
Argue it out with Deputy Harte.
It is a fact that it was not enough.
It is a fact also that the Waterford grant was reduced.
