Vol. 199 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Driving Disqualifications.

38.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in respect of the disqualification for holding a driving licence, remitted by him on the 21st December 1962, the reason why the disqualification was originally imposed.

The disqualification was imposed as a result of a conviction in respect of an offence against Section 56 of the Road Traffic Act, 1933.

I am sorry—I could not hear the Minister's answer?

Section 56 of the Road Traffic Act, 1933.

What does that cover?

It is not drunk-driving anyway. I think that is what the Deputy is concerned with. It is driving without insurance.

39.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in respect of the disqualification for holding a driving licence, remitted by him on 13th December last, the offence in respect of which the disqualification was imposed.

Two disqualifications for holding driving licences were remitted by me on 13th December last.

In one case, the disqualification was as a result of a conviction in respect of offences contrary to Sections 50, 56 and 165 of the Road Traffic Act, 1933, and in the other case the disqualification was as a result of conviction against Section 106 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961.
