Vol. 199 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tuberculosis and Cancer Deaths.

6.

asked the Minister for Health the number of registered deaths from (a) tuberculosis and (b) cancer in each of the years 1960, 1961 and 1962.

Complete statistics of deaths from various causes for the year 1962 have not yet been compiled. Should the Deputy wish to repeat this portion of his question in, say, a fortnight from now, I expect that the information will be available. With regard to the other two years mentioned the number of deaths from tuberculosis (all forms) was 468 in 1960 and 420 in 1961 and the number of deaths from cancer (including Hodgkin's disease and leukaemia) was 4,761 in 1960 and 4,704 in 1961.
