Vol. 216 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killybegs Fish Processing Factory.

62.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether all fish processed in the factory at Killybegs, County Donegal, are sold through An Bord Iascaigh Mhara; whether they are sold at a loss or gain; and whether any employee of the Board or any person receives commission on the sale of the fish.

All fish processed in this factory is disposed of on a contractual basis by the Board to the distributive trade at the best prices obtainable. The profitability of the operation over a period depends on throughout and unfortunately the supply of raw material to the factory has not up to the present been sufficient to keep the factory on a paying basis. No commission is paid to anybody on the sale of the fish.
