asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the annual salary paid to clerical officers and junior executive officers in the Civil Service in 1938 and in 1964.

Following is the information:—

Clerical Officer

Annual Salary in 1938

A. £105-£122 10s. (at 18 years) × 16 annual increments to £238 16s.

B. £122 10s. (at 18 years) × 17 annual increments to £306 2s.

Annual Salary from 1 February, 1964

A. £380 (under 18 years)-£395 (at 18 years or at entry over 18) × 16 annual increments to £896.

B. £380 (under 18 years)-£395 (at 18 years or at entry over 18) × 16 annual increments to £1,120.

Executive Officer

Annual Salary in 1938

A. £157 10s. x 20 annual increments to £369 2s. 0d.

B. £157 10s.×22 annual increments to £495 1s.

Annual Salary from 1 February, 1964

A. £540×20 annual increments to £1,280.

B. £540×20 annual increments to £1,600.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the annual maximum salary payable in each of the years 1939-40 and 1965-66 (calculated as being inclusive of every type of bonus and on the maximum scale permitted for each grade and, where there was any increase in either year, as it would have been payable if such increase were operative for the whole year) for each of the following officers in Departments (other than the Department of Finance) (1) Secretary (2) Assistant Secretary (3) Principal Officer (4) Assistant Principal (5) Administrative Officer and (6) Higher Executive Officer.
